It hurts even more if it is an ESA you lose because then you lose your entire support system. We often find ourselves thinking how long do dogs live because we can’t bear the thought of losing our precious animals. This is why I think it is best to keep dogs that live long.

So, here are 4 dog breeds that tend to live the longest.

Go, choose your favorite one.

Breed #1: Yorkshire Terrier
This would be one of those small breeds I have been gushing about.
Yorkshire terriers are fierce little creatures, so much so that they were used to hunt down rats a few centuries ago. Now, however, they are rather pampered.
This is because they are great pets. They can live from 14 to 16 years which is a lot in dog years.
In human years, it's like being in your 80s. So yeah, they live long and their fur is super soft and great for cuddling.

Breed #2: Poodle
Another breed of small dogs that live long is poodle.
Poodles are among the most popular pets. This is probably because one look at that gorgeous curly fur is enough to make even Margaret Thatcher fall in love.
Poodles too can live from 14 to 16 years. They also come in a larger size but that breed lives from 11 to 13 years.
So, you choose which type of poodle you want. I recommend the smaller ones.

Breed #3: Maltese
Fun fact: These doggos have been around for like 28 centuries.
The ancient Egyptians WORSHIPPED them and you can totally see why. They are just so gorgeous and elegant.
Even the Roman and Greek philosophers were fascinated by these dogs and wrote about them. Yeah. Talk about fame.
It’s a good thing that they live from 12 to 15 years of age.
So, you can now have plenty of time with your Maltese. They are nice and gentle and they don’t even hunt rats anymore.

Breed #4: Beagle
If you want to have a fun dog around then the Beagle is the best choice for you.
They can live from 12 to 14 years of age and all that time is filled with excitement because they are curious creatures.

And not just curious, they are smart too and love to play games. So, if you want some exercise then a Beagle will provide you with a lot of it.
Just be careful to not feed them too much. They sure love to eat.

Bonus Breed: Labrador Retriever
I know, this is cheating but I couldn’t leave my favorite one out.
Since they are larger in size, they do not live as long as the dogs mentioned above. But they don’t have a short lifespan either.
They live up to 12 years so that is a lot of time.
Much like Beagles, they too have super energy and love to play. And their gorgeous, golden fur tends to get dirty in all the playtime.
But it’s worth it.
So, make your choice.

All of the above-mentioned animals can also make great ESAs if you are thinking of getting one. And if you want an ESA letter then you can get one online easily enough. What you need is a legit website. That’s it.
Then you just have to follow the procedure to get what you want.
